How it all started..

after all the introduction about Arashi, I should start to recount how did i start on this Arashi craze..long story...so lets go...

About 5-6 years ago, when I was only 13 or 14, my brother, started to listen to J-pop, namely, Hamasaki Ayumi. So the young me also started to listen to a little bit of J-pop. At that time, Music Station was available on television with subtitles! ( thats the impt part, the subtitle) So there i was, watching Kinki Kids, thinking that their songs are quite nice and some other ppl. Then one day, I saw Arashi. They were dancing to their special medley, where its a string of songs from their first album. I was attracted to them immediately. I was like, they are cute and they can dance! woah! haha...I still remember vividly that the 2 person who attracted me was Ohno and Nino. So I immediately prepared the video tape and recorded the repeat of Music Station ( i still have the video tape! ). At that time, I always cannot remember their grp name, so i had to keep asking my brother. Started to download some of their songs but at that time, i've juz gotten internet connection. so wasnt tat savvy yet. haha...and of coz, i bought their first album, which i still think is very nice! Tried to look for J-dramas with Nino or Ohno or even Arashi, but at that time, i could, except for one by Nino. Namida o Fuite ( As tears go by ). A really nice drama. But alas...the J-pop craze soon died down within me and i got hooked back to the eng pop tat i'm used to, which i later changed to mando-pop...haha.

Though I never forgot Arashi, the truth was, I nv paid much attention to them anymore, coz i dont get their news over here, and i nv bothered to go and find. At that point,i had other things to find out about. So though their poster nv left my wall, i nv really looked much at it.Haha...I remember one year, i got my brother to buy me Arashi 5X5 compilation album for my birthdae. Now, thats the 2nd album of Arashi that i owned. Sadly, that wasnt enough to stir up the Arashi fever within me.

Years later, around the May or June period, when i was rotting at home, waiting for Uni to start, i started to browse youtube for more things to see. At that point in time, I've watched all the videos of my idols tat i haf nuthing to watch already. So i thought, " Why not search for Arashi? It's been a long time since I saw them or heard them. Maybe I should re-live the A-RA-SHI and Kansha Kangeki Ame Arashi times. " So i went on youtube and typed Arashi and woah!!! I was bombarded by pages and pages of Arashi related clips! So i started by watching the PVs of their older songs. The songs that i were familiar with. Then i ventured to the newer PVs. One reason was that i'm a music lover, 2ndly, i wanted to hear Arashi, like so how did their newer songs sound like. From then on, I was hooked again. Especially by the song Sakura Sake. The tune is juz too catchy!! wahaha..and the PV is very cute. Will put it up in the video section if i have the time. Most probably when i return to hall. And the rest is history. I started watching more of their clips. Went online to surf around. Found AMNOS.net which is currently down. And later found Arashian.com! a great place with friendly people and they are very generous in sharing clips. So here I am, super hooked and super addicted to Arashi that i haf to start a site to dedicate to them.

Arashi rocks my world!!!!

Jun Matsumoto

Jun Matsumoto (Japanese: 松本潤, Mandarin: Song Ben Run, born August 30, 1983) is a Japanese idol from Johnny's Entertainment. Best known for being part of popular J-pop band ARASHI, together with Masaki Aiba (相葉雅紀), Kazunari Ninomiya (二宮和也), Satoshi Ohno (大野智), and Sho Sakurai (櫻井翔), Matsumoto has been critically acclaimed in the acting field as well.

Normally serious and very dedicated to his work, Matsumoto has been declared by his bandmates as caring the most for ARASHI.

  • Name: Jun Matsumoto
  • Place of birth: Tokyo, Japan
  • Nicknames: Matsujun, Jun-chan, Matsumoto-kun, Junji
  • Height: 173cm
  • Weight: 53.6kg
  • Blood type: A
  • Horoscope: Virgo
  • High school: Horikoshi high school (堀越高等学校)
  • Family: Father, mother, and one elder sister
  • Speciality: Baseball

Matsumoto entered Johnny's Entertainment in 1996, at the age of thirteen. Although the proper procedure is for the applicant to go through a round of auditions before being admitted into the talent agency, Matsumoto bypassed it by receiving a direct phonecall from Johnny Kitagawa, telling him to report for work.

In September 1999, on board a cruise ship off the shores of Honolulu, Hawaii, he debuted at 16 years old as the youngest member of ARASHI. ARASHI, the slightly hip-hop-influenced group of Johnny's Entertainment, was instantly popular with the fans. However, it was not till 2002 that Matsumoto truly made his mark in the acting industry by portraying Sawada Shin in the manga-turned-dorama Gokusen, a role which won him the Best Supporting Actor at the 44th Television Drama Academy Awards.

In 2003, Matsumoto took on the role of Momo/Goda Takeshi in the drama Kimi wa Petto, portraying a homeless young man taken in by a successful journalist as her pet. A year later, in 2004, he wrote a song called 'La Familia' in honour of ARASHI's fifth anniversary, and performed it at the Iza Now! concert.

2005 saw Matsumoto taking on his most conspicuous and challenging role to date: Domyouji Tsukasa, the leader of F4, in the Japanese live action of the highly popular manga/anime Hana Yori Dango, which aired it's first season from 2005-10-21 to 2005-12-16. Hana Yori Dango was the highest rated drama of the winter of 2005, and a second season is currently in production

A lot of publicity was generated when he made an appearance at the 47th Golden Melody Awards in Taiwan in June 2006. Dressed in a grey suit, he was frequently referred to as 'Prince Charming' in the Taiwanese media reports. 200 fans were at the airport to receive him and he recited a few Mandarin phrases while presenting the Best Director award with Rainie Yang.

Aside from acting and singing, Matsumoto has taken on hosting duties by co-hosting Utawara HotHit10 with Aya Matsuura and Wada Akiko. The most well-known moments in that program were Matsumoto's arguments with Akanishi Jin of KAT-TUN.

As of June 2006, he became part of an unofficial group within Johnny's Entertainment called 'No Border', which includes members like Yamashita Tomohisa of NewS, and Takizawa Hideaki of Tackey & Tsubasa. The purpose of 'No Border' is for its members to interact freely and bypass the sempai-kouhai relationships formed by JE. At the moment, he is aged 23.

    Trivia:

    • Matsumoto is myopic. Although he wears contact lenses for his work, he is frequently seen with spectacles.
    • He was the first Japanese male celebrity to make it onto the cover of the Japanese May 2006 issue of Marie Claire magazine.
    • He used to have buckteeth when he was younger.
    • Although the members of ARASHI enjoy more or less equal popularity, a large portion of the fans were attracted to ARASHI by watching Matsumoto's doramas; a common syndrome that has been nicknamed the 'Jun-bait' by fans.
